Protecting whales,
protecting our future
The Whaletone Foundation is a platform that connects artists, musicians, scientists, ecologists, and the one who want to engage in actions that bring real change for environmental protection and improved life and knowledge about whales.
Inspired by
whale songs
The Whaletone Foundation's inspiration is whale song. Its beauty and uniqueness is as fragile as the future of these majestic animals. This is why the Whaletone Foundation works to protect whales and their existence on our planet. Together with environmental organisations, but also artists, musicians, composers and scientists from all over the world, we carry out projects at the intersection of music, science and ecology to protect whales.

For whales,
for oceans
Our mission as a foundation is to support initiatives that focus on studying and protecting whales. Marine life, and particularly the fate of whales, is endangered for many reasons. Key threats include plastic pollution in oceans, climate change, ocean exploration, both intentional and accidental fishing, unsustainable ocean tourism, and ship collisions with marine animals. We aim to support projects and actions that enhance knowledge and understanding of their species, promote their conservation, spread awareness about their role in preserving oceanic biodiversity, and advocate for their protection as an endangered species. In our work, we wish to collaborate with highly skilled and ethical individuals and with organizations whose mission aligns closely with ours.
Why are whales endangered
Pollution
Toxins and plastics in the oceans threaten the health of whales. In 2023, it was found that 90% of studied whales had microplastics in their bodies.
Whaling
Despite international bans, illegal whaling still occurs. Between 2010 and 2019, over 3,000 whales were killed as a result of hunting.
Climate change
Climate change affects whale habitats, altering the availability of their food. Rising ocean temperatures decrease krill populations, the main food source for many whale species.
Noise
Intense noise caused by ships and oil exploration disrupts whale communication. Studies have shown that noise levels in the oceans have quadrupled over the past 50 years.
Fishing gear
Whales often get entangled in fishing gear, leading to injuries and death. Each year, around 300,000 whales die as a result of accidental entanglement.

What we do to protect whales
We raise funds, support impactful projects, and dedicate 1% of WHALETONE piano sales to whale conservation, while promoting initiatives to gain widespread support and additional resources.
Project support
To support projects in line with our foundation's mission, we help selected initiatives both financially and organizationally. We also aim to promote and market the selected projects to help them achieve their goals and gain the widest possible social, scientific and financial support.
1% of sales
To achieve the foundation's goals, we donate 1% of all WHALETONE piano sales to the foundation.
Fundraising
We conduct promotional campaigns to support the foundations work and attract further funding and resources for supported projects from external donors who share our mission and values.
Art and ecology
We support musical and cultural initiatives related to ecology and education about singing whales. We organise concerts and workshops combining art and music with the conservation of whales and their environment.

Inspired by whales,
committed to care
What inspires us? Whale song
WHALETONE pianos were born from an inspiration drawn from nature. A spontaneous and unexpected encounter with whales in their natural habitat sparked our imagination and dream, which led to the creation of an entire piano company inspired by these majestic creatures.
This encounter with one of the most magnificent mammals on Earth not only inspired the Whaletone project, but also brought our attention to these remarkable animals. We realized how little we know about them, and how important, fascinating and sensitive they are to human actions. This was the impetus to show our gratitude for this gift of inspiration, which led to the founding of our company. And so the idea for the foundation was born.
What projects do we support?
To fulfill our mission of protecting whales and marine wildlife, we support projects that:

Have an idea on how to protect whales?
Submit your project to receive a grant and support these remarkable marine mammals.
Who can submit a project?
We work with activities and individuals with a proven track record in marine conservation, oceans, whales, marine fauna and flora. We invite proposals from research and science centres, private and community organisations and foundations. We are also open to working with individuals working in the scientific field who want to make a real difference to whale conservation and the advancement of knowledge about whales.
How to submit a project?
The selection of projects to be funded by the Foundation is completely open and transparent. The Foundation announces the opening of project registration on website and in a newsletter. You can submit your application using a special form. Submitted projects are evaluated by a jury selected by the Foundation. The list of projects selected for funding will be published on the Foundation's website.
Subbmision procedureHow we selected winning projects?
Projects will be evaluated by an official jury based on the following criteria: innovative approach to cetacean conservation, use of new technologies and research methods, clear impact on cetacean conservation and their habitats, realistic resources, time, and budget, potential for international collaboration, long-term impact and sustainability of results, and involvement of local communities.
What else can we do together?
Are you an artist or musician?
The Whaletone Foundation supports musical and cultural initiatives related to the spread of knowledge about singing whales. If you are a musician, composer or organise cultural events - apply to us.
